I has a job!!
I started work as a Web Designer at a company on Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday and it’s been an interesting week. I’ve met a lot of new people and promptly forgotten most of their names. I was given a shiny new 27″ monitor and ordered a new Macbook Pro. I was given almost all the information I could have asked for to make the website happen. I got access to all the social media pages. And I’ve basically finished the redesign of the home page already. So things are going pretty great.
Also, life at home has been pretty awesome. When my roommate is actually home, we have neat conversations about stuff and watch Game of Thrones sometimes. When Sam and I hang out, I genuinely feel better about life and that because I have dealt with all the bad things in my life up to this point, I feel like it’s finally turning around. Sam and I built a PC for me this weekend too and I’ve been customizing it and playing some games on Steam. I’ve started dieting more and have lost about 4 pounds already. Thomas has been less of a dickish cat than he usually is, so that’s cool too.
So yeah, things are just coming up me right now. I’m hoping it lasts for awhile this time. Huzzah.

Winter is stupid. Ice and snow and cold and just awful. I fell on the ice outside my apartment on Monday and then stayed home from work. Then both yesterday and today, I slipped on ice outside of my work building. Didn’t fall, thankfully. But still. It’s crazy. We had like 60ºF temperatures through December, and now January and February have been just hell. Frozen hell.
Everything else has been going pretty well though. I need to get back to reading that book Sam gave me, as I’ve been ignoring it awhile. I got to a section that I felt I couldn’t use at the time, and instead of skipping it, I just kinda stopped. But I am in Part 2 of the book already, so that’s something. Speaking of Sam, we just celebrated our first Valentine’s Day this weekend. I gave him a stuffed Fluttershy, a digital card I made with Fluttershy on it, made him dinners all weekend (fried honey walnut shrimp and then shrimp scampi), and bought him some clockwork cufflinks on a whim when we went to Fire and Ice in the mall. He was very surprised. I was very sneaky about buying them and he had no idea. So ha! I win. 😛
Sam gave me a stuffed cat that had a “You’re Purrrrfect” heart on it, silver earrings with purple stones, and then bought me a stuffed fox from Ikea when we went there on Sunday. He also gave me a very nice card on Monday. 🙂
We also started playing Borderlands together this weekend, and now Sam is pretty hooked on it. So despite the wintry craziness we’ve been getting, things are going pretty well.

Everything has changed. Jace broke up with me, Babylon moved out, Lila moved in, and I got a new job. I also went through a month-long relationship that ended abruptly last night.
I don’t even know my own life anymore. Everything is different than it was just a few months ago. I have gained a bunch of new friends but some are slowly fading out of my life already. It seems like I barely see my old friends and that they’re pulling away too. I don’t get to ever have my whole life in order. My work life and living situation got better, but now my personal life has gone to shit. And right before the holidays, when it’s hardest for me to function happily.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m thankful for the things I have right now. I have a great new job and a good working environment. I have a wonderful new roommate to hang out with in our awesome apartment. And Thomas is finally doing better and not getting sick every day anymore.
But the rest of everything sucks and is kinda unstable at the best of times. I was finally doing a little better and I was less depressed than normal for this time of year. But that all went to shit last night. And now I’m back to being a bitter, lonely, depressed thing.
I need hugs…

Wednesday was my company’s Thanksgiving dinner. So I was off diet for that. There was a hypnotist and it was hilarious. It wouldn’t work on me, or on most of us, but the ones it did work on were so great. You really had to be there to appreciate it.
Thursday I was on diet until dinner when I got calzone with Babylon.
Friday I was mostly on diet except for lunch, when I finished the calzone.
Saturday and Sunday I was off diet.
Monday I was mostly on diet.
Tuesday I was on diet until dinner.
I think I’ll stop doing these weekly updates except for actual weight loss updates, since I keep forgetting to do them anyway. Heh.

Wednesday I was on diet.
Thursday I was on diet and went to the gym.
Friday I was on diet until dinner, cuz it was Halloween. Went to Greene Turtle with Babylon, Lucky, and a guy from my work.
Saturday and Sunday I was off diet.
Monday I was mostly on diet and did a weigh in. 8.2 pounds lost.
Tuesday I was on diet until dinner. Got Sarku since I was near the mall for my allergy shots and I was so hungry. Hung out with Spike a little while he was on break.

New foods I tried this week:
– Chocolate frosted donut: not tasty at all and didn’t really look like a donut
– walnut chocolate chip cookies: okay, but not as good as the white chocolate ones
Wednesday I was on diet until dinner, but went to the gym with Joey.
Thursday I was on diet.
Friday I was on diet until dinner, which was on the way to La Festa with Spike.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I was off diet for La Festa.
Tuesday I was mostly on diet and went bowling with a new guy that I’m seeing, and I’ll refer to him as Crow. Felt awful for awhile though. I never actually got time to sleep much this weekend, so instead of being refreshed, I was just feeling depressed. Then was horribly sore after bowling. I think I twisted my hips out of whack or something.

New foods I tried this week:
– chocolate cake: thicker than the brownie, but the brownie tasted richer
– cheese puffs: smaller than expected, but really crunchy and many of them in the bag
– sweetened o’s cereal: tastes similar to cheerios
– chocolate nougat bar: reminded me of a snickers, but got melted in shipment
Friday was my birthday and a few of my friends came to Pub Dog to hang out with me and have dinner. So I was off diet for that. It was really fun and I got to see people I haven’t seen in ages, and even meet a new guy.
Saturday was dinner at Texas Roadhouse with my family and TinyFists. Then Coldstone cake at the house. My official birthday party that night which was pretty fun. We played Beautiful Katamari throughout the party. Off diet all day.
Sunday we went to Osaka Hibachi for lunch and stuffed ourselves with sushi and hibachi goodness. Off diet all day.
Monday I got partially back on diet. But leftover steak for lunch made it another off diet day, in my mind.
Tuesday I was mostly back on diet. Though I did get sushi for dinner. I’ll wait to weigh myself again until next week I think. Heh.
I’ve been playing a lot of Skyrim ever since I picked it up last week. I’m enjoying it and I’m already level 11.

Friday’s coffee date fell through. Sadface. But the party I went to was fun regardless and I had a blast playing video games, hanging out, and grilling up some meats. Super glad I went. I got a little work done too.
Saturday’s menu included:
– cinnamon muffin
– tuna salad on a whole wheat roll
– fudge brownie
– chicken breast sandwich
The tuna was kinda tangy but tasty. And it all fit on the roll.
Fudge brownie was really dense but tasty.
Chicken was really small and had a lot of juice in the packet and fell apart when I took it out. But it didn’t taste bad.
Sunday’s menu included:
– blueberry waffles (off diet)
– chicken parm pasta
– mozzarella sticks (off diet)
– mushroom risotto
– nutrichocolates
The pasta was okay, but the sauce wasn’t very thick.
Risotto did not look appetizing but didn’t taste horrible. Not nearly as tasty as Spike’s risotto though.
Chocolates were melted into a blob. Do not order those when it’s warm. I will wait until Fall or Winter before I get those again, I guess. It’s a shame because the chocolate was tasty.

Today’s menu includes:
– maple brown sugar oatmeal
– papa johns pizza
– party foods
The party last night was awesome. Fireworks and wine and awesome times!
The oatmeal was pretty tasty, but I’m glad I’ll be eating lunch in about an hour. And I was too hungry to wait until then after I woke up.
This weekend is a holiday, so going off-diet is gonna happen. My parents are bringing down the new pantry that my dad built so I’m thanking them by ordering pizza and we’ll all have lunch together.
I have a coffee date this afternoon (yay!), and then a 4th of July party to go to afterward.
Today will be a bad day for dieting, but a good day to be alive.

Christmas this year will be very lean as far as presents go. I’ve realized that I can’t even spend money on my family or boyfriend this year because of my current financial situation. It’s unfortunate. So I’m trying to be creative with presents. Making things instead of buying. I hope they still mean a lot to the recipients and bring them just as much joy as an actual purchased gift. I can’t say any specifics on what I’m doing though, since Spike reads this blog, but I’m definitely putting the most effort of all into his presents. I’m almost done for him, but then I have to work on everyone else’s.
I can’t even afford to throw a Christmas party this year, which I really was hoping to do. Sigh. Oh well. Maybe I’ll do one in mid-January to bring in the new year and such.
The good news is that we’ve worked out the family stuff so that my family will have dinner on Sunday with Spike. Then on Christmas Eve, I’ll have a half day at work, then Spike and I will drive to PA to see his family. I’m really excited to see everyone and give presents to his niece and nephew. Then we’ll come back late Christmas day from PA after a lovely dinner with his parents.
Hoping it all goes smoothly…
Oh, and Spike swapped for the iPhone 5. I am happy.
